Going For A Morning Swim

morningswim.jpg

The pool area in the back of the hotel has been coming along nicely in the last few days. The ES team has added cabanas, lounge chairs, and small tables.

But my favorite thing so far this week is that yesterday the hotel pool was finally filled with water.

This morning I woke up just before sunrise and decided to go for a swim in the pool before anyone else arrived at the hotel. If you haven't yet gone swimming in Second Life (today was my first time) it's an absolutely amazing experience. I'm now convinced the the pool will be one of the most popular aspects of the hotel.

Where did I buy my trunks? WaterWorks Island has a terrific assortment of bathing suits, animations, and pools to swim in. At WaterWorks I also bought The Swimmer! 1.1, an absolutely amazing HUD device that makes your avatar buoyant and allows you to swim laps.

See you in the pool!

The Swimmer remains one of my favorite HUD's in Second Life. I agree the swimming experience in Second Life with The Swimmer is great!

Wow! Pool and everything! Minibars?? In room amenity items? Water in waiting?

My wife (who I sometimes work for/with) is the co-owner of In Room Plus. IRP is Starwoods' main minibar goods provider.. pretty much just the snacks. I've been in SL as a musician and helping out supporting its burgeoning live music scene since the end of May. Since June Ive been trying to explain to my wife how vital SL is becoming in so many ways to so many creative endeavors.

She heard about aloft through her Starwood contacts and now understands quite thoroughly some of SLs potential. I love what you are doing not because it just made my life a little easier but also for the kind of project it is in and of itself. This kind of crossover between the RL business world and the SL one will ensure the future of all of our precious AVs:)

Has it been considered to actually add more rooms to the approximation of an average planned size aloft hotel, and then leaseing those rooms on a weekly basis for cheap L$? Ive met many AVs that would seriously consider such a thing if it were between 25 and 50 L$s a week. Hmmm now that Im thinking on it Im sure you have:)

The small RE:Fuel restaurant could have actual items under consideration for RL. Charge a single L$ for each item and watch which ones are bought. Same product testing could be done via mini/honor bar in the rooms once there are more rooms even if the RL version wont have them.

Sorry... I could go on and on as this is what I spend a large chunk of my time doing with my wife and this is honestly, very very exciting for us as well.

Ill be stopping in over the next few nights to check out the sim...oh and uhhhmm if you need any musicians for that nice new stage I could probably help you get appropriate entertainment relatively hassle free (the trick is to avoid the big egos when it comes to performers and promoters). Shoot me an email or IM in world for anything at all.

Good job!

Aloft is looking great. One thing though, many avatars do not have the swimming HUD...what do you think these avatars will do in the pool? Are you going to add lilos and floating poseballs so they can join in too?
